Domain 4: Eval, Testing, and Debugging
Debugging Claude applications: error types, recovery strategies, reading traces and telling a fault in your code from one in the model. 2.6% of CCDV-F.
This domain is 2.6% of CCDV-F, about 1 of the 53 questions, so one lesson covers it. It is still worth the time, because the same habits decide questions in the API, tools and security domains.
The key idea is where the problem starts. An API error, a timeout, a malformed tool call and a confidently wrong answer look different and need different fixes: retry with backoff, fix the request, validate the output, or change the prompt. A trace is the record of what your application sent, what came back and what each tool did, and reading it is how you find the origin.
The recurring test: isolate before you fix. Decide whether the fault is in the integration layer or in the model output, then apply the recovery that fits that error type.

The question bank is free. It asks for an account only because the quiz engine has to store answers to score them and show which domains are weak. The questions on this page need nothing.
