Who can take the Claude certification exams? The partner rule explained

The Claude certifications are open to Anthropic partner organisations only. What that means in practice, why a personal email will not work, and what to do if your company is not a partner.

The most common question about the Claude certifications is not about content. It is "how do I register?", asked by someone who has just discovered that they cannot. This article explains the rule, because almost nobody states it plainly.

The rule

Certification is open to people at organisations in the Claude Partner Network. You register through the Anthropic Partner Academy with a work email on a domain that is recognised on your company's partner record. There is no public registration route, and a personal address (Gmail, Outlook, a domain your company does not own) will not get you an account that can register for an exam.

That is the whole rule, and it is the one that catches people. The exam guides describe content, scoring and retakes in detail and mention registration only as "go to the certification page on the Anthropic Partner Academy". The Academy itself is where the gate is.

What "recognised domain" means

Your company's partner record lists the email domains that belong to it. If you register from a subsidiary's domain, a regional domain, or a domain the company uses but never added to the record, the certification will not be credited to the partner account even if the registration goes through. Domain changes are handled by Anthropic partner support and take about a week to ten days, so if your address is unusual, ask before you book.

Why the rule exists

The certifications are part of the partner programme. Three of the four exams (Developer Foundations, Architect Foundations, Architect Professional) count toward a company's Claude Partner Network eligibility, and companies can see their certification totals in the Partner Portal. The programme is built to recognise partner capability, which is why individual registration is not part of it, at least for now.

What to do if your company is not a partner

You can still prepare. Everything on this site is open: the exam guide summaries, the study guides, the practice questions and the timed simulators. The knowledge is worth having whether or not a credential follows, and if your employer joins the programme later, you will be ready to sit the exam the week it happens.

If your company builds with Claude and is not yet a partner, the partner programme is the route. That is a company decision rather than an individual one, and it goes through Anthropic's partner team rather than through the exams.

Fees are set by Anthropic and discounted by partner tier, with 50% off for the higher tiers, so the list price is not what most candidates pay. The figure you see at checkout is your price.
A registration stays valid for five years, so a company can buy seats now and staff can sit the exams later.
Scheduling is with Pearson VUE, online with a webcam or at a test centre, after registration on the Academy. Cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before; inside 24 hours the fee is forfeited.
Identification: a government-issued photo ID whose name matches your registration exactly. Name corrections go to Anthropic's certification support before you schedule.

The short version

Partner organisation, work email, recognised domain. If you have all three, register on the Partner Academy and schedule with Pearson VUE. If you do not, prepare anyway; the material is free and the credential can wait.
